Wondering How to Add Colour into Your Wedding? Here is Some Real Life Inspiration

When Delaine and Alex first approached Ninebark to discuss their Whistler wedding flowers the consultation opened with “we want our flowers to be a modern, maximalist rainbow”. As soon as these words were uttered my heart fluttered. By the end of our conversation, after learning of all the colourful details they wished to incorporate into their day, I was head over heels in love with their vision. Not only because it was so unique, but because it truly echoed their personalities.

Taking Delaine’s favourite colours hot pink and orange, accents of pistachio, red, yellow and electric blue were added to create a daring colour palette that tied into the eclectic, maximalist theme of this stylish micro-wedding. For blooms, romantic ruffled textures were used alongside glossy tropical blooms (including my favourite flower, Anthurium) to create a highly tactile design.

For her bridal bouquet, Delaine requested a large, statement piece to offset the beautiful modern simplicity of her couture dress. As a sentimental surprise for Alex, softly scented double petal tulips were subtly incorporated into the hand-tied design. The finished bouquet was wrapped with softly billowing burnished gold ribbon that gently floated in the breeze as Delaine walked down the aisle.

The couple shared their vows in front of forty of their closest friends and family on The Woodland Terrace at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Their Ceremony Flowers were kept simple, with the bright, exuberant colours creating standout against the natural backdrop. Grounded designs were placed on the steps leading to the Chapel which framed Delaine and Alex as they were married by Reverend Tracy Ann Kerr.

For their Reception the party moved to Fairmont’s Wildflower Grill Room, where again the maximalist rainbow theme continued. Modern florals in low compote vases were placed along the harvest tables and sat among hot pink and orange taper candles in modern gold candlesticks. Rose gold charger plates were dressed with soft pink linen napkins and finished with personalised menus. The fireplace mantle provided the main focus for florals, with the Ceremony designs being re-designed to form a solid statement display above the newly-weds as they celebrated.

Finally, a stunning cake created by Lisa at The Flour Pot formed the finishing touch to the evening celebrations…
